GEAR
Gear I’ll be using to NOBO hike the PCT 2026!
I’d like to condisder myself “ultralight” but to be in that prestigouse group of people you need to have a sub 10lb base weight (4.53kg). I’m just shy of that at 10.69lb, unlike many other ultralight gear lists I see which claim to be “full cumfort” I truly belive mine to be (I suppose thats what eveyone else thinks too). Below will be a quick look at my gear list with a more indepth look further down including stats and why I chose such gear.

That list is all the gear I’ll be taking with me on my PCT thru hike, it looks like quite a lot but it all fits nicely in my pack and I’ve managed to wittle it down to the apsolute essentials while still maintaining full comfort, which I belive to be the most important things when hiking in general and especially thru hiking.
Initially when picking a pack I flocked to the Hyperlite Mountain Gear ones you see in all of the PCT videos and thru hike videos I see on Youtube and Instagram and was sucsesfully influenced into buying one £350 and two weeks later I had one. After a quick shakedown hike and adding it to my Lighterpack I soon realised that it was too big (55L) and too heavy (32oz,900g) if I really wanted to go “ultralight”.
